PROFESSIONAL MASTER'S DEGREE IN HISTORY
In operation since 2011 and with the area of concentration in "History, research and teaching-learning experiences", The History Graduate Program of Federal University of Rio Grande - Professional Master's in History (PPGH-FURG) is the pioneer in the country in the offer of Master's in History in the professional modality and obtained, in the last quadrennial evaluation of CAPES/MEC, grade 4 (on a scale up to 7).
The focus of the program is on the qualification of History teaching professionals at Compulsory and Higher Education levels, from the development of skills and capabilities for the construction of reflections on History teaching, citizenship, professionalization and social responsibility, as well as the improvement of a historical cognition.

What is a Master's degree in the Professional modality?
The professional master's degree is a modality of graduate education stricto sensu. The master's degree obtained in professional master's programs, recommended and evaluated by Capes and accredited by the National Council of Education (CNE), has national validity and grants its holder the same rights granted to holders of the title in academic master's programs.
Training should be aimed at exposing students to the processes of applied use of knowledge and the exercise of innovation, with the enhancement of professional experience. Some of the objectives of the professional master's degree are to train qualified professionals for the exercise of advanced professional practice and transforming procedures. It also aims to transfer knowledge to society, meeting specific demands and productive arrangements for national, regional or local development besides contributing to add competitiveness and increase productivity in companies, public and private organizations.
